Square Plates and Trays
The creative process for this square plate and tray series, lets me enjoy a variety of techniques, as a way to include organic and spontaneous patterns in the glass. In some instances, I used a technique called Flow Slab Pattern bars. You can see this dynamic pattern highlighted through the center of the sushi trays. The herringbone series highlights strong patterns married with color fields and simple but dynamic design composition.
I recently learned how to silk screen images using glass powder, which is then fused into the glass. This has allowed me to incorporate more complex patterns, and iconic images such as bees or cicadas.

Sushi Trays
The Mothra Series was inspired by the beautiful Ailanthus Webworm moth that found it's way into my back yard. The trays incorporate a vibrant blend of yellows, whites, blacks and grays.
